Fairhope votes ‘yes’ to sand resolution at Magnolia Beach

FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WALA) – The Fairhope City Council has passed two resolutions aimed to fix widespread erosion at Magnolia Beach.

The passed resolutions cover the dumping and transportation of 5,850 tons of sand to Magnolia Beach, costing the city some $70,000.

The last time Magnolia Beach was rebuilt was before Hurricane Katrina nearly eight years ago.

The City of Fairhope hopes to have the project completed by July 4, 2014, but city officials tell FOX10 it could take longer.
