Book signing held in Fairhope

Author Oliver North was on the Gulf Coast Sunday, June 22.

North was at Page and Palette in Fairhope, signing copies of his new book “Counterfeit Lies.”

A combat decorated Marine, North served on President Reagan’s national security council in the 80’s.

He says above all, he values his writing talent, and its ability to preserve the voices of history.

The good Lord gave me the gift of being able to write and a good education and I like to be able to let them tell their story. That’s what I do on television. That’s what these books are. It’s them telling their stories,” North said.

Doctor Sidney Phillips was also there, signing copies of his memoir “You’ll Be Sorry.”

It chronicles his service with the marines in World War II.

You’ve probably also seen Phillip’s’ war stories in the documentary “The War,” and the HBO series “The Pacific.”
