Prichard Police Chief: Operation Zero Tolerance nets 11 suspects

Prichard Police Chief Jerry Speziale said a three-week investigation has resulted in eleven arrests on charges ranging from prostitution to narcotics.

“On Friday, June 20, the Prichard Street Crime Unit conducted an operation based on a three-week investigation,” said Chief Speziale in a news release to FOX10News.  Speziale said it was “Initiated through numerous tips and complaints from the community about drugs and prostitution.”

Speziale added that the investigation “targeted and utilized” social media in their operation.  Prichard officials say the operation netted eleven arrest, narcotics, approximately $9000 and a 2008 Tahoe.  The Chief of Police said all of the proceeds will become “the subject of forfeiture proceedings.”

The following people were arrested: Chanchez Lopez, Kelvin Knight, Stephen Stewart, Dennie Thomas, Demetrius Lutin, Ronald Goodwin, Donald Kelly, Davis Gamble, Kelvin Grayson, Wesley Wingate, Ashliegh Batiste.

Speziale added “As Chief of Police, I am proud to announce the Prichard Street Crime Unit has taken their investigation to a new level utilizing technology to achieve a safer Prichard.”

Chief Speziale said “hot spot policing” techniques were used to target the areas in Prichard where these alleged crimes were taking place.
