MOSS POINT, Miss. (AP) – Moss Point Police Chief Keith Davis has spoken out about his decision to resign, citing a souring relationship with the mayor.
Davis hasn’t spoken about his resignation until Thursday because he said he did not feel it was in the best interest of the city. He told the Sun Herald he is thankful for the support he’s received from residents, though his resignation will go into effect June 27.
At a Moss Point board meeting Tuesday, nearly 100 residents gathered at City Hall looking for answers about what led to the chief’s resignation.
The Board of Aldermen rejected Davis’ resignation Tuesday, until they could find out why he quit. They felt the unanimous vote showed their support for Davis.
Broomfield said Tuesday night that Davis never discussed their relationship.
