GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) – A judge has denied a former Long Beach police officer’s request for a reduced bond on charges alleging he had sex with a 15-year-old girl while on duty.

Harrison County Justice Court Judge Brandon Ladner denied the request of Patrick Klis on Wednesday.

The Sun Herald reports the 44-year-old Klis is held on bonds that total $300,000 pending court action on three counts of sexual battery.

His attorney told the judge Klis retired from the Navy after 20 years as a Seabee with six combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Klis was a police officer for 6 1/2 years. He was fired after his arrest April 4.

Klis has waived a preliminary hearing. The case will be bound over to a grand jury.
