Amazon is officially in the smart-phone business. The company just announced the “Fire” phone. It’s a 3D phone with a 13-megapixel camera. The phone uses a technology Amazon calls “Dynamic Perspecitve”. It’s a head-tracking tool that changes the phone depending on how you look at it, giving the picture a 3D effect. The “Fire” phone goes on sale July 25. It starts at $200 with a two-year contract.
And, when you’re texting, sometimes words just aren’t enough to express yourself, and that’s where emojis come in. A lot of us use the little smiley faces and other symbols to jazz up our text messages, but if you’re tired of using the same old emojis over and over again, there’s good news. About 250 new emojis are on the way! Unicode is the company in charge of standards for digital text. The company says it will release the new set of emojis this summer. Unicode posted samples of the new symbols on its blog. You can see a squirrel, a pepper, a plate and utensils and in the bottom corner, a hand doing the vulcan sign from star trek. Some of the other new symbols will be a spy, a spider, and a man in a business suit, who seems to be levitating. Apparently it’s supposed to be a symbol for “jumping”. Now, if you’re anxious to start texting away with the new emojis, the symbols should be available to use next month when unicode updates its emoji library.
