A big honor Tuesday at the Mobile City Council meeting for a local school principal.
Debbie Ollis, the prinicpal of St. Mary’s Catholic School, received a proclamation naming Tuesday “Debbie Ollis Day.”
Ollis was nationally recognized as the 2014 Distinguished Principal by the National Association of Elementary School Principals.
The group honors active principals of schools where programs are designed to meet the academic and social needs of all students.
Ollis told the council, “We’re proud to be a Catholic school. We are very proud of our students, our staff, and our parents. And, we couldn’t do it without the city of Mobile.”
Ollis started a service program called “Something Beautiful for God,” where students reach out into the community to serve individuals and organizations through fundraising and special projects.
