BCSO: Guns, crack, pills, pot confiscated at hot spot

BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WALA) – Four men were arrested Thursday night, June 12, for a number of drug crimes after members of the Baldwin County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on Hurricane Road in Bay Minette.

Sheriff’s investigators said 37-year-old Devin Horace, 21-year-old Travis Mims, 25-year-old Tyree Brown, and 24-year-old Michael Pleasant, were all arrested in the operation.

Crack cocaine, marijuana, prescription pills, scales, and approximately $2,200 in cash were confiscated, as well as a stolen pistol and short-barreled shot gun.

FOX10 spoke with one of the men after he was released Friday, June 13, who said a child was at the home when officers conducted the search.

Captain Steve Arthur with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office said the men are dangerous dealers.

“We knew that they were dealing narcotics out of that location, and were eventually able to get a search warrant, and (after executing) the search warrant, we found we found drugs, we found cash, we found indicators that they were dealing drugs out of the location,” said Capt. Arthur.

Sheriff’s investigators have labeled the home as a hot spot crime area, that means the home has received a number of criminal complaints over the last several months.

“The people of the community get tired of this kind of thing,” explained Capt. Arthur, “The volume of cars, the children playing in the street, the weapons that were involved, a sawed-off shotgun and stolen pistols, so we were able to alleviate these issues in the community, we were able to answer a call from the citizens to take care of that, and that’s what we did in this case.”

Captain Arthur also told FOX10 because the stolen pistol and the sawed-off shot gun were found in the home, the men could potentially face federal charges as well.
