Flora-Bama, the iconic Roadhouse and beachfront “Honky-Tonk” is celebrating its 50th Anniversary. To commemorate 50 years Flora-Bama kicks off its inaugural Flora-Bama Fishing Rodeo this Father’s Day Weekend with a portion of proceeds to benefit The Special Operations Warrior Foundation.
Rodeo tickets are only $35 per angler with winners 3-deep in over 35 categories, including largest mullet and most unusual fish.
The tournament is an “everyman’s” tournament with categories ranging from blue crab to blue marlin! A boat is NOT required to enter this tournament so you can just bring the family and fish off of the beach, the jetties, or the public piers!
A vast array of prizes include everything from Salt Life sunglasses, Ocean Max Rods and Reel, Ocean Tamer Bean Bags, Alabama/Mississippi Sea Grant College Scholarship, 12’ Bote Board with Tackle Rack, 3-day/4-night Panamanian Fishing Trip and an 18’ Sea Hunt fishing boat, motor & trailer compliments of Legendary
There will also be a $100-$10,000 Big Game/Catch & Release Calcutta along with Red Snapper, King Mackerel, & Speckled Trout Jackpots and an Inshore Grand Slam for Flounder, Redfish, & Speckled Trout.
Participating anglers can leave from any location and do not have to check out at Flora-Bama Yacht Club.
Anglers/boats participating in the big game Calcutta must attend the Captain’s meeting Thursday, June 12th at Flora-Bama Yacht Club.
The party and live music starts at the Yacht Club Thursday evening and will run until Sunday evening. Tell your family and friends who aren’t fishing to come and hang out at the Yacht Club. View the fish coming in or lay on the beach in front of the Flora-Bama and watch all the boats cruising the coastline in search of that winning fish!
Weigh-ins are at the Flora-Bama Yacht Club both Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. For larger boats who cannot get underneath the Ono Bridge, weigh in will be at Orange Beach Marina. Anglers may also drive their fish by car to weigh in at the Flora-Bama Yacht Club.
Entry point for fish by truck will be behind “The Rib Shack BBQ Restaurant”. The awards ceremony will be held Sunday at Flora-Bama Yacht Club at 2pm with
festivities starting at noon.
