PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) – An Eight Mile man is behind bars Tuesday following a chase with Prichard Police. Inside the car: high quality marijuana and a loaded handgun.
Prichard Police Chief Jerry Speziale told FOX10 News his narcotics units were sweeping the city Monday night when someone called with an anonymous tip.
“As soon as we were given the location, our undercover units started to look for the vehicle in the area,” said Chief Speziale.
The car was identified and when police tried to stop it, the driver took off. The pursuit eventually ended on Osage Street. Investigators said 24-year-old Rudolph Carter was driving. Another man was in the passenger seat.
“As soon as the vehicle was stopped, they were able to apprehend the two suspects and then the dog immediately hit on the vehicle. You can see the sizable amount of narcotics that were there,” said Speziale.
Three pounds of high quality marijuana was seized along with a loaded 9 mm handgun that was stolen from Daphne.
“I am someone who believe someone like that who will continuously break the law needs to be behind bars,” said Speziale.
Carter was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, attempting to elude police, carrying a pistol without a permit, trafficking marijuana, and receiving stolen property.
Chief Speziale told FOX10 News because Carter took full responsibility for the drugs and gun, the passenger in the car was not charged.
