BILOXI, Miss. (AP) – A man reported missing from a boat has been found hanging onto a channel marker in the Mississippi Sound by two officers with the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources.

Melissa Scallan, public information officer for DMR, tells The Sun Herald the unidentified man wasn’t injured after more than three hours in the water.

He was taken to shore by DMR officers Duane Armes and Randy Peterson, who found him after 7 p.m. Sunday.

The Coast Guard was called at 3:40 p.m. and notified that a person may have fallen off a small pleasure boat en route from Horn Island to Ocean Springs.

About eight people were on the boat. The Coast Guard reported that passengers on the boat looked back and discovered one person was missing.
