MPD: Three juveniles shot at Public housing complex

The Mobile Police Department says Tuesday, June 3 three juveniles were shot a public housing complex on Baltimore Street. It happened around 5:00 p.m while the kids were outside.

Investigators say a 7-year old girl and two 13-year-old boys were shot after a suspect fired a round of “birdshot” from a shotgun toward a crowd of kids. Authorities say the children did not suffer life-threatening injuries. The shooter is still on the loose.

Sandra Mckinnis says she’s terrified to step outside her oak lawn home.

“It has to stop,” said Mckinnis.

We were on the scene Tuesday shortly after the shooting. It was busy with people and police cars. Wednesday we went back to the scene. It was quiet and almost no one was outside.

Mckinnis says it may be calm but it’s still dangerous.

“Reporter: Is it safe to be outside, right now, in the middle of the day here? Mckinnis: You know what…I don’t believe it’s safe. I think we take a chance,” said Mckinnis.

We are working on getting more details from police about two car wrecks near the scene.

The driver of a truck told FOX10 News he was passing through the neighborhood and ended up crashing into a pole because of the chaos.

FOX10 News will continue to follow this developing story.
