Six local animal shelters and rescue groups came together for “Maddie’s Pet Adoption” where 465 animals were placed with forever homes, the weekend of June 1.
FOX10 spoke with Janine Woods, executive director for the Mobile SPCA. She said it’s one of the most successful adoption events our area has had for a while.
“We are absolutely stunned at the people that have come out, the number of animals we have placed. County shelter adopted all but one dog so far, same with city, has 3 or 4 left,” Woods said.
The groups who participated say they hope to be invited back, for another successful adoption drive.
