MOBILE CO., Ala. (WALA) – Fishing is about making memories to last a lifetime. With school out for summer, it’s a good time to take the kids fishing. This is a great way to introduce young people to the outdoors.
You want a successful outing, and panfish like bream are really good species to target. A good private farm pond makes for a great place for kids to learn. The best way to do that is to have a real simple rig with a bobber so you can see the bobber going down. A small split shot, a small hook, #2 gold hook right here, and crickets for bait. Crickets are the best way to fish for bream, they are not nearly as messy as worms. Take that cricket and fish it a couple of feet below a cork, and just set it out
Try planning a trip around 9 or 10am, so you can beat the heat. I like to keep the fishing trips with the kids short. After an hour or so, it’s a good idea to take a break and enjoy some lunch or a nice snack.
