SATSUMA, Ala. – The City of Satsuma held its 4th annual Memorial Day Ceremony Monday.
A few hundred people, including family members of some fallen soldiers gathered in front of City Hall to pay tribute to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
Retired Lt. Colonel James Keith McKinley who served in the Air Force was the guest speaker.
A wreath was laid at the monument honoring those who lost their lives in the line of duty from the area.
Family members of Army Private John Levi Thomas said Thomas was the first soldier from Satsuma to die in World War II.
14 flags were flown around the memorial as a special recognition for all the servicemen listed on the monument.
