MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A big sports event is kicking off in Mobile this week that organizers say should bring a lot of money into the area economy.
The Airbus LPGA Classic is taking place this week.
It’s happening at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Magnolia Grove.
The tournament kicks off Thursday, but the pro-am is happening Wednesday.
144 lady golfers are taking part.
Bill Lang with the Airbus LPGA Classic said, “You have hundreds of people that will come. You have 144 golfers. You have caddies, you have sponsors. I’ve got to make a point everytime I’m buying something in a store, I’m thinking, this is because of the LPGA, and I’m spending money with you.”
The tournament runs through Sunday.
