MPD investigating two overnight shootings

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Mobile police are investigating two late night shootings.

The first happened around 8:30 p.m. They said officers responded to a burglary call on Schwartz Street.

The victim told officers he came home and found a man he didn’t know fleeing from his house. He said he fired several shots at the suspect.

A short time later, police got a phone call from the 1900 block of Wagner Street, saying a man had been shot several times.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. His identity hasn’t been released.

The second shooting happened an hour later, around 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of State and Kennedy streets.

Officials said they responded to the 1000 block of State Street for a report of two shot.

After officers arrived, they determined only one person had been shot and had been taken to a local hospital. The victim was treated and released.

The victim told authorities a person she didn’t know, possibly driving a dark colored truck, shot her.

Authorities continue their investigations into these two shootings.
