McGill-Toolen hires Becker to head baseball team

Tim Becker is leaving two-time state champion St. Luke’s to try his hand at another level.
Becker was introduced as the new baseball coach at McGill-Toolen at a press conference on Monday afternoon at the school.

He just finished his 13th year overall as a head coach, eight at UMS-Wright and five at St. Luke’s.
He won a pair of state titles at both schools.

“I think the biggest thing is I’ve always wanted to coach college baseball and coming to a bigger school – coming to McGill-Toolen – it kind of brings that in a way,” Becker said.
St. Luke’s went 36-5 this past season, sweeping Athens Bible over the weekend in Montgomery to win its second straight Class 1A state title.

Becker will likely start in July. He replaces Matt Moore in the position.
