In 15 years as head coach at UMS-Wright, Terry Curtis has absolutely dominated the high school football realm. Winning 11 region crowns, 5 state championships, and a winning region season every year, Curtis has put the Bulldogs on the map, time and time again.
Last season, UMS-Wright lost in the state semi-final game to Charles Henderson, a loss that has motivated the team in 2014.
“We still talk about it today, just losing to Charles Henderson and that feeling after and everyone still has that feeling,” said running back Troy Dixon.
“We think about it a lot, it’s always in the back of our head, it gets us going for next season and hopefully get back and make it to state,” said linebacker Tift Lyons.
“We think about it everyday because of how it happened, you’re always over the coach if you get beat the team is usually way better than you, you get beat bad. But that’s not the way it was, all of us walked off that field knowing that we had plenty of opportunities to win that game; probably the only state semi final game that we didn’t play our best. We had a lot of mistake, a lot of miscues, misalignments, just a bad game for us and when that happens in the semi’s you get beat. It was a hard one to swallow,” said head coach, Terry Curtis.
