“Samo” who FOX10News first featured last month after his former military partner adopted him, was one of the many attendees of the 10th Annual Blue Star Salute at Battleship Memorial Park Saturday.
The event was held to honor Armed Forces Day. FOX10News viewers first met Samo when he arrived from California to be greeted by his new owner and former Marine Corporal Colin Cutright.
Cutright had not seen Samo since his discharge from the military two years ago. Samo was trained to detect explosives and worked with Cutright during his tour of duty in Afghanistan.
While the two were partners in Afghanistan, one of their achievements was finding a large cache of IED’s (Improvised Explosive Devices) while on patrol.
Cutright wanted to adopt Samo once he was discharged from military service. The German Shepherd was flown into Gulfport via military transport.
FOX10News interviewed Cutright in April when Samo arrived on the Gulf Coast. He had this to say about his dog and their service time together.
“When I got the phone call from him (his friend in California) saying we could adopt Samo, there was definitely no way I could say no,” said Cutright. “I”m excited for him to come home and hopefully love me.”
