An unlikely furry, four-legged rescuer saved a little boy in California from a vicious dog attack.
In mere seconds, playtime turned terrifying for four-year-old Jeremy.
Surveillance video captured a neighbor’s dog coming around a parked car and lunging for the boy as he rode his bicycle. The dog bit and dragged the boy.
That’s when the family cat, Tara, came to the rescue. The video shows her pouncing on the dog and sending it running.
“it just happened so fast, out of nowhere. I didn’t even really know what happened until afterwards when my husband showed me our surveillance video and I said, ‘Our cat saved our son!'” said Jeremy’s mother, Erika Triantafilo. “when I saw the tape I couldn’t believe she had no fear. Not once, I think, did it cross her mind that her life was in danger. She took care of my son and that is the most amazing part of it.”
Jeremy, who has mild autism, is now sharing hugs and kisses with his friend. Thanks to Tara the cat’s quick action he escaped with only a few stitches.
Erika said the dog escaped while their neighbor was pulling out of their gated driveway. That same neighbor called 911.
The Bakersfield police spokesman said the dog will be quarantined for 10 days then euthanized.
