The Fresh Market Sidewalk Sale

The Fresh Market will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its annual “Hope Floats” Sidewalk Sale May 16 through May 18, from 11:00a.m. to 6:00p.m. to benefit JDRF, the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes research. The Fresh Market’s stores in Daphne, Mobile, and Pensacola will offer hot dogs, root beer floats and ice cream sundaes, each for a $2 donation. The Fresh Market will donate 100 percent of the money raised over the three-day sale directly to JDRF to support its research efforts.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the partnership between The Fresh Market and JDRF raising both funds and awareness to create a world without T1D.  The Fresh Market is proud of its longstanding partnership with JDRF. To date, the specialty grocer has raised nearly $4 million for JDRF through its annual Paper Sneaker and Sidewalk Sale, Wine Gala program, corporate donations, and other fundraising events.

T1D is an auto immune disease in which the pancreas stops producing insulin needed to regulate blood glucose.  T1D strikes both children and adults suddenly and is unrelated to diet and lifestyle. It requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood glucose testing, and life-long dependence on injected insulin. People living with T1D must administer insulin injections to prevent too much glucose, contained in carbohydrates, from entering the bloodstream.

In addition to the Sidewalk Sale, The Fresh Market is hosting a JDRF Sneaker Sale campaign from April 30 through May 18. Customers can make a donation by purchasing green paper sneakers at The Fresh Market’s checkout counters to show support for this worthy cause. JDRF Collection Containers are also placed at each checkout counter, as every penny counts.
