GULF SHORES, Ala. (WALA) – Many people coming to Gulf Shores may be focused on the Hangout Music Festival Kickoff Party, but another entity had its kickoff as well.
Thursday marked the soft opening for Gulf Shores’ newest eatery: Bill’s By the Beach.
“Opening during the Hangout Festival, most people think is insane, but I actually think it’s brilliant,” Owner Bill Henry said.
The bar sits on West Beach Boulevard, just west of the festival grounds. They have a specialized menu during the Hangout that will give the staff a chance to get a feel for the restaurant.
The menu features sharable items like yellow tuna and pulled pork quesadillas.
“They’re small meals that would be suitable for grab and go or suitable for after you’ve been sitting in the hot sun to have something light, but refreshing. Fresh ingredients, healthy and very flavorful,” Henry said.
Their indoor-outdoor bar is named “The Turtle Bar” since they overlook the turtle sanctuary across the street.
“We’re working together with the Diageo who does the Naked Turtle rum. We’ve got commitments for matching contributions to the Turtle Foundation. And we’re very cognizant of how fortunate we are to have this view and we need to give back,” Henry said.
The restaurant will have its grand opening sometime after the Hangout Music Festival concludes.
