Rains don’t stop Hangout setup

GULF SHORES, Ala. (WALA) – There were certainly some heavy pockets of rain this afternoon, but crews were able to work around it, to make sure the setup for the Hangout Music Festival stayed on track.

“We have the best site we’ve ever had, the best team we’ve ever had,” Sean O’Connell, festival director, said.

The Kickoff Party starts at 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon with the band Go Down Moses and will introduce folks to some new aspects of the festival.

“We also have a brand new tent this year called ‘Foam Pop.’ It’s a fashion tent and chill area. We’ve been making amazing charging stations and a lounge area, which is really, really nice. And we have tons of clothing and fashion brands from all around the country,” O’Connell said.

Tickets are still available for the pre-festival party at $50 per ticket. And what would a party be without some free food?

“We’re actually going to be giving away pizzas, so make sure you get here early. Pizza Hut is rolling in with a giant Pizza Hut truck and we’ll be giving away thousands of pizza slices,” O’Connell said.

And for those who got tickets to the sold out main festival, you might see some familiar faces from across the bay.

“Amos Lee has been rehearsing with Port City Voices, which is a, as you guys probably know, a great, great choir out of Mobile. So that’s going to be pretty amazing,” O’Connell said.

The best news: the forecast is rain free all weekend long.
