Neighbors speak about shooting victim: “Tim was always a nice man.”

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Mobile Police are still investigating a Saturday morning homicide in West Mobile, Sunday, May 11.

According to Mobile Police, 28-year-old Kendis Chambers shot his stepfather, 42-year-old Timothy Hunter after an argument at Hunter’s home. Police spokesperson Ashley Rains told FOX10 News Chambers pulled a gun and shot his step-father in the stomach.

Hunter was rushed to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

FOX10 News spoke with neighbors on Sunday in the Saybrook subdivision. They say it is a quiet neighborhood with very little traffic or activity.

“This is just a surprise. Shocking is an understatement, I mean he was a great guy. Tim was a great guy,” said one resident. “Nobody knew what happened. There were police cars all over. Until afternoon, nobody knew what happened. I’m just very sad to know Tim is not going to be there anymore, you know?”

“He was always nice. My dad borrowed tools from him when we first moved over. He was really nice. If you saw him out there, he’d be sure to wave to you and all that. He always had eye contact and smiles,” said another resident.

FOX10 News reached out to the family. We did not receive comment.
