Ohio woman mistaken for groundhog, shot by farmer


SUGAR CREEK TOWNSHIP, Ohio (CNN) – Officials in Ohio said a woman is dead after a bizarre shooting on a farm.

They said it happened Monday, May 5 in the Sugar Creek Township.

Authorities said 22-year-old Natasha Stover was shot in the head as she lay in the grass. The sheriff said she was shooting at targets.

That’s when they said 79-year-old farmer Ralph Adams, Jr. said he mistook her head for a groundhog and shot her.

Stover died from her injures the next day.

the sheriff said the shooting is under investigation.
