Airport Authority, Bishop State partner to offer apprenticeships

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Mobile Airport Authority and Bishop State Community College are partnering to offer students apprenticeships in drafting and design, graphic communications arts, painting and welding.

The apprenticeships will assist with the economic development of the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley. They will address the workforce development needs of the business and industries at the Aeroplex led by ST Aerospace, Airbus, Continental Motors, Star Aviation and suppliers.

Bishop State will collaborate with these employers to officer apprenticeships in drafting and design, graphic communications and other relevant disciplines.

The college will also serve as an industry partner in the Alabama Aerospace Innovation Research Center as the lead post-secondary institution to offer business services solutions to the businesses located at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley.
