The book is full of inspiration, advice, humor and Southern style. The Same Sweet Girls Guide to Life: Advice from a Failed Southern Belle is beautifully designed, with black and white illustrations throughout. This keepsake draws inspiration from King’s bestselling novel, The Same Sweet Girls. It’s a book that can be read again and again through the years by people of all ages. King’s true gift lies in her ability to present readers with the sort of hard earned wisdom that will help both young and old find sustenance and renewed meaning in life.

Among the bits of wisdom she shares is: Know the value of time. She says, “Be a spendthrift with everything but time. Listen to me instead of your financial manager: It’s okay to spend money, to save it, to give it away, to worry over it. It’s just money. The only enemy in life is time. It helps to be reminded that fate always bats last, and always bats a thousand.”

King delivered the commencement address upon which this book is based in May 2013 at the University of Montevallo. Formerly Alabama College, an all girl’s school, it is the alma mater of King and the original “Same Sweet Girls,” the name chosen by a group of King’s classmates who met in college and went on to become lifelong friends. King fictionalized the group in her New York Times bestselling novel, The Same Sweet Girls, published in 2005.

King, who has been called “the Queen of Southern storytelling,” is the author of five novels: Making Waves, The Sunday Wife, The Same Sweet Girls, Queen of Broken Hearts, and most recently the highly praised Moonrise, which was an Okra Pick and SIBA bestseller. A native of Alabama, Cassandra resides in Beaufort, South Carolina, with her husband, writer Pat Conroy. If you would like more information about the book signing, please call 251.928.5295 or visit
