Escambia County officials held a press conference Tuesday, May 2, at the Escambia County Emergency Operation Center at 3 p.m. to discuss damage assessment.
They said they are working on the roads to ensure safety, as well as assess flood and storm damage. They said they are working with the federal government federal assistance.
They also touched on Thurssday’s explosion at the Escambia County jail, where two inmates were killed and more than 100 other people were injured.
The owner, Wallace Haywood, said he was walking across the street to the jail when the explosion occurred. He said, “It was by the grace of God he was saved.”
