Apple iWatch in Production

Yahoo is taking on Netflix and Amazon by coming out with some original programming of it’s own. Next year, Yahoo plans to release two new comedy series. The shows “Other Space” and “Sin City Saints” will be free for users and supported by ads. The New York Times reports that both shows have received eight episode orders, and will have all episodes released at once in early 2015. The programs will be featured on Yahoo Screen over the web, and also on Apple TV.

Do police officers need a warrant to search the cell phones of people they arrest? That’s the controversial issue the Supreme Court was set to tackle this week. The justices  heard two cases on the matter. The court has long-allowed those searches, but critics say it’s unfair because cell phones hold or provide private access to a person’s life. A court ruling on the issue is expected in June.

Amazon has launched an online store specifically for wearable tech, called the Wearable Technology Store. The store features a number of categories including fitness & wellness, healthcare devices, wearable cameras, and smart watches. If you’re not sure what to buy, the site offers a buying guide to help shoppers choose the right wearable device for their lifestyle and needs.

And, the long-rumored Apple iWatch  has reportedly gone into production. ‘The China Times’ says it will go on sale in the second half of this year. A recent poll by Harris Interactive finds half of Americans believe wearable tech is a fad.

That’s your Daily Tech.
