Superintendent Malcolm Thomas has made the decision to close the Escambia County School District on Thursday, May 1, 2014.
Due to the recent inclement weather, county road crews will be assessing the conditions of all roads and bridges to ensure it will be safe for buses to transport students.
Superintendent Thomas remarked, “With the flooding situation, we are proceeding with an abundance of caution. Additional time is required to evaluate roadways and bridges to ensure the safety of students and staff; therefore, we will be closing schools on Thursday, May 1, 2014.”
Employees and parents are encouraged to remain home and stay off the road.
