Saturday’s beautiful weather made for a great day at Willow Farms Horse Rescue in Loxley.
Dozens of people came out to donate their time and money, and it’s all for a great cause. Willow Farms is a rescue shelter caring for more than 30 horses.
Saturday’s fundraiser played host to a a number of activities: a yard sale, petting zoo, train rides and horseback riding. For owner Janet Hein and the volunteers who lent a helping hand, caring for the once abused or starved horses is a labor of love.
But caring for the animals takes time and money, both of which are in short supply. Saturday’s fundraiser is sure to help, but those at the rescue operation say help is something they can never get enough of.
Another fundraiser is being planned for the fall. In the meantime, if you’d like to help the rescue, please send donations to 26149 County Road 49, Loxley, Alabama 36551. You can also contact the rescue on Facebook at Willow Farms Community.
