Former trooper, felon speaks to students

Students at Baldwin County High School got a visit from a three time felon who’s also a former lieutenant with the Alabama State Troopers.

Matthew Creighton’s message to the students is “Don’t Get Sidetracked.” The former Marine and State Trooper has made it his goal to share his story of gambling addiction which led to a life of crime. He blames it on one bad decision and hopes that his message will prevent young people from making the same kind of poor decisions in their lives.

“I want to share with them my message and the kind of person I am so that they can see that you have to keep your guard up. You can’t let your guard down you know and you can make a bad choice…a bad decision pretty fast and mess your life up,” Creighton said.

Creighton has been speaking out for the last two and a half years. In that time he’s talked to students at 20 schools throughout the state, numerous churches, civic clubs and police departments.
