Great Dauphin Street Cleanup

It’s Earth Day, and a lot of us are looking for ways to pitch in and do our part to protect the environment. Here’s one way you can help: it’s the great Dauphin Street cleanup! Kesshia Davis from Mobile Gas stopped by our studio to tell us how to get involved in this cleanup project.

This is the third year that Keep Mobile Beautiful and the city of Mobile has been in partnership with the Great American Cleanup. It launches every April, and is one of the largest cleanups across the nation. Other cities across the nation have been participating by cleaning up the neighborhoods, waterways and communties.

The Great Dauphon Street Cleanup is this Saturday. To participate, go to Mobile Gas at 2828 Dauphin Street to register on Saturday, or call the Keep Mobile Beautiful office at 251-208-6029. Registration on Saturday is at 8:30am. You can come individually or with a group. The cleanup is from 9am – Noon. You can pick a location to clean up off of Dauphin Street, starting at Water Street all the way to McGregor. That’s about six miles of Dauphin Street. If you’d rather not pick the location, one can be assigned for you.

Keep Mobile Beautiful will supply pickers, gloves, and trash bags. If you have your own supplies, you may bring them as well. After the cleanup, come back to Mobile Gas for a free lunch and tee-shirt!
