MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Mobile Police Department officials say a pistol-whipping and shooting suspect is still on the lose, along with two accomplices, after two days on the loose, April 21.
It all happened in broad day light Saturday afternoon, according to Mobile Police. A man was ordering food at the Taco Bell on Government Street when three men approached him and demanded his wallet. Once he refused, he was hit in the head with a pistol then shot at while driving away.
“It’s getting really crazy around here. Everywhere around here,” said one witness.
“The victim was not injured by the shots. He was hit in the head and the suspects were actually able to get away,” said Ashley Rains with the Mobile Police Department.
The victim, along with the suspects, sped off and shortly after, gunshots.
“All of a sudden I heard gun shots rang out. About 6-7 seconds, I seen a guy coming from around the apartments and he was running toward me,” said a witness.
The victim made his way to a nearby restaurant where he got help.
“He was saying he didn’t get shot, they were trying to rob him. He was pacing back and forth. He had just as much sweat on his face as he had blood gushing out his head. And I was thinking in the broad daylight on government street, that really happened? That let’s me know right then and there that mobile really needs some type of more enforcement,” said a witness.
Folks with whom FOX10 spoke with said it is scary knowing something like this would happen out of the blue at dinner time.
During the time it happened it was around a lot of people. A bullet don’t have a name so them bullets could have flew anywhere and hit anybody,” said a witness.
Mobile Police are still looking for the three men involved with the attempted robbery and shooting. Police said they have the description of the shooter: He is about 5′ 6″, 240 pounds and around 40 years old.
If you have any information about the incident, you are asked to call Mobile Police.
