Little girl battling cancer raising money for research

Carolyn Hendrix of Pensacola is 5-years-old but her days are not filled with school and friends. Instead, she’s in the battle for her life.

Carolyn was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, in May of 2013. Family members say Ewings Sacroma affects about 250 children a year in North America. In June 2013, Carolyn started nine months of intense chemotherapy and is now on her final rounds.

Carolyn and her family are hosting a St. Baldrick’s Foundation Shave-a-Thon to raise money for pediatric cancer research. They have set a $300,000 goal. Carolyn is asking folks to join in. Carolyn and her friend, Katie, have even tweeted out a photo asking the 2014 Masters champ, Bubba Watson, to shave his head. No word if Watson has replied to the request.

If you would like to help Carolyn reach her fundraiser goal, click here.  You can sign up to get your head shaved or donate to someone who is shaving their head. The fundraiser is set for Sunday, June 22 before the Blue Wahoos game at Blue Wahoos Stadium in Pensacola, Fla.

You can follow Carolyn’s progress on Facebook or through the Pray for Carolyn Twitter account.
