FUGITIVE FILES UPDATE Did she do your taxes?

UPDATE, Thursday, April 17, 2014: Mobile Police confirmed Thursday that the suspect Antoinette James/Steele died on Saturday, February 22, 2014.

Wednesday, April 16, 2014: Mid-April is traditionally the time that many folks rush to pay their taxes. But if you hire someone to prepare them for you, it’s a good idea to check them out.

Mobile Police say our suspect this week, Antoinette James, also known as Antoinette Steele is accused of theft by deception by asking for money from a woman who really didn’t owe taxes that year.

Officer Terence Perkins said James/Steele “informed the victim that she owed the IRS more than 48 hundred dollars. The victim went out and secured 2 cashier’s checks. She gave them to Ms. James. Ms. James was supposed to give them to the IRS”.

James or Steele is 38 years old, 5 foot 5 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. If you know where to find her, call the FOX10 News Fugitive Files/MPD Intel Hotline at 251-208-7000.  She’s been arrested in the past for possession of a controlled substance and theft of property.

Police say James operated P.T. Tax Accounting at 77 North Sage Avenue for about 2 years. It is now closed. If you were a victim of our suspect, or if you know where she is, turn her in.
