Three sewer overflows reported in Robertsdale

ROBERTSDALE, Ala. (WALA) – According to a report from the City of Robertsdale received Tuesday, April 15 by the Baldwin County Health Department, three sewer overflows have been reported.

Officials said a manhole located at 17675 West Illinois Street overflowed due to heavy rainfall. The estimated volume of overflow is between 1,000 and 10,000 gallons of sewage being discharged into Silver Creek.

They have also reported the lift station at 22891 College Street has overflowed between 100,000 and 1,000,000 gallons of sewage into Rock Creek, and a manhole at 22140 College Street has overflowed between 1,000 and 10,000 gallons into Rock Creek.

The health department urges residents to exercise caution if using Rock Creek for recreational purposes. Also, thoroughly cook any fish or seafood caught nearby and wash hands after handling fish or seafood.
