The Coastal Wildlife Rescue Center is hosting an Earth Day celebration at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve in Foley today.
Rescue Center officials say this is a free event and they are hoping families will come out to enjoy nature as well as learn about the animals, birds and plant life native to the Gulf Coast.
Live music and other events have been scheduled to entertain both adults and children.
The Coastal Wildlife Rescue Center rehabilitates injured birds. Janet DeLaOliva-Ripp with the CWRC told Fox10News in an email, that this time last year, the center rescued seventeen injured birds. “This year we are over fifty (same time as last year) already which is an increase of over 180%. We need volunteers and committed individuals to come join the rehab effort.”
The Graham Creek Nature Preserve has picnic areas, a canoe and kayak launch in addition to nature and bike trails. Organizers of today’s event say the crowd is growing and many families are taking advantage of the nature tours that are being provided.
Fox10News would like to thank Janet DeLaOlivia-Ripp for sending us photos of Saturday’s activities.
