Children learned about coastal marine life Saturday at Discovery Day at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. The event is being held from 10:00 a.m. and will last until 3:00 p.m..
Children’s admission to the Estuarium is free. In addition to the Estuarium, organizers say the Sea Lab is also offering free children’s activities, games and crafts.
Discovery Day is geared toward teaching youngsters about the coastal environment. According to the Dauphin Island Sea Lab website, Executive Director Dr. John Valentine said today’s events teaches environmental science in a fun and interesting way for children.
“Discovery Day is the perfect opportunity for the public to come and enjoy a fun family event that is not only a great time, but also a great chance to learn about what we do down at the Sea Lab.”
Dauphin Island Sea Lab officials say boating safety, hurricane preparedness and alternative energy will also be featured at this event.
