Buffalo Soldiers, 98-year-old WWII vet honored

A 98-year-old WWII veteran was honored by “The Lost Service Project- In Pursuit of Justice,” Thursday, April 10 in Prichard. John Stanford Ford Davis was a member 92nd Division of the Buffalo Soldiers and Roughrider.

The 92nd Infantry Division served in the Italian Theater during World War II. From August 1944 until May 1945, the Buffalo Soldiers captured more than 20,000 German prisoners. The Roughriders served in the Spanish-American war under President Roosevelt.

Prichard Mayor Troy Ephraim along with other city officials, CPL Robert Andry, who served with General Patton, of the 71st Black Tank Battalion will be in attendance. Veteran Davis was escorted by a motorcade of 50 motorcyclists
