Saraland City School official announced Tuesday afternoon that Spartan Stadium will have a new addition this upcoming football season. Saraland will build a 10 by 17 foot video board that will stand next to the scoreboard in the south endzone of the stadium. The money for the board was made possible by a donation from Shell Chemicals in Saraland. The new video board will be used for many school functions including sporting events, graduations and the Special Olympics.
Saraland Athletic Director and Head Football Coach, Jeff Kelly, spoke about the program’s excitement.
It is a great day, it’s a great day for Saraland, it’s a great day for our students. What the Shell corporation has done, committing to get involved with our students and our student-athletes, this is going to affect so many kids when you look at all of our teams that compete day in and day out here at the stadium. Then our students that will have the opportunities to learn the academic stand point about how to operate those things – this could lead to careers in broadcasting, so we’re exciting about our video board and what it’s going to bring to Friday nights and year around.
