The National Weather Service in Mobile says there is a “moderate risk of rip currents” along area beaches Saturday.

Rain and thunderstorms are expected to develop this weekend.  Fox10 Meteorologist Matt Barrentine, along with colleagues Jason Smith and Michael White and Chasity Byrd are monitoring weather conditions today and will provide the latest weather information Saturday and into Sunday.

At least one outdoor event was cancelled due to weather.  Mobile Baykeeper announced Friday evening, they were cancelling the Three Mile Creek Cleanup this morning.

However, the Great American Cleanup event in Tillman’s Corner went on as scheduled at 8 a.m..  The “Barks for Brews” event to benefit The Haven pet adoption center in Fairhope was re-scheduled from this afternoon to Friday, April 11 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. because of rainy weather concerns.

The University of South Alabama’s Hippocrates Statue dedication near the Medical Science Building is ready for inclement weather.  Should rain drown out the outside ceremony beginning at 10:30 a.m., the event will be moved inside the Medical Sciences Building.

We will have more on this weekend’s weather outlook on Fox10News at 9 p.m..
