Former McGill-Toolen standout quarterback Jason Smith’s future at Auburn will be put on hold, while Tiger’s head coach Gus Malzahn gathers more information surrounding Smith’s arrest early Sunday morning, March 30 in Mobile.
“We’ll see,” said Malzhan. “We’ll see the facts and deal with it like we would anything else.”
The former Auburn signee (Class of 2013) is currently enrolled at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College after failing to qualify academically at Auburn. Smith is expected to be the Bulldog’s starting signal caller this upcoming season and play for Auburn the following year. A source close to the situation told FOX10 Sports that Smith is practicing with his junior college team this week, following his Sunday arrest.
Smith was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and two counts of attempting to elude police.
