According to the Mobile County Sheriffs Office, 20-year-old Jason Deadre Smith, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and two counts of attempting to elude police. Officials said, the arrest was made early on Sunday, March 30 around 3 a.m.

Smith, a former McGill Toolen standout, committed to Auburn in 2012 in hopes of competing for the quarterback position. However, Smith failed to meet academic requirements to attend Auburn. Smith eventually enrolled at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College as a red-shirt freshman and was set to play this season at MGCCC then transfer to Auburn for the 2015 season with three years of eligibility left to play.

According to reports, Smith committed to the Tigers for the second time early in 2014.

Smith led McGill to a 22-3 record combined during his junior and senior years and a perfect 12-0 record during his senior season.

According to the MCSO, Smith has since posted bond. FOX10 News will have more information as details become available.
