MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – After more than two years of investigating, authorities cracked the murder case of a local Army Sargent.
Remano Campbell, 32, was shot and killed inside his Eight Mile home in 2011.
Alexander Frank Williams was arrested and charged with murder. Campbell’s wife Eugenia Campbell was also arrested and taken into custody by the US Marshalls in Mississippi, where she is now being held in the Harrison County jail.
Mobile County District Attorney Ashley Rich said Williams was known to Remano Campbell, but she will not go into details about their relationship.
Campbell’s mother, Patricia Campbell is overwhelmed with emotion.
“Joy of course that a break has come in the case and you also have this sadness that someone would actually take the life of someone,” said Campbell.
The victim’s family offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the killer. The district attorney said the reward money will not be used in the case.
Patricia Campbell is grateful for the arrest, but knows there is a long way to go.
“I believe and I know that God will never, ever fail us. My prayers have perseverance and my perseverance has risen,” said Campbell.
The family plans on attending all the court cases starting tomorrow at the suspect’s bond hearing.
The Prichard Police Department, U.S Marshals Office and the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office worked together to make an arrest in this case.
