USA student’s family has message for community following death

The family of a University of South Alabama student found dead in his dorm room is speaking to FOX10 News about their loss.

Christopher Thomas’ parents, uncle, and cousin drove from Dothan to attend a candlelight vigil at USA’s Moulton Tower and Alumni Plaza, hosted by several student organizations close to him.

Thomas, 21, passed away March 15. He was discovered in his dorm room.

His death remains under investigation however police do not suspect foul play.

Thomas’ family tells FOX10 News the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 22 at the Northview Christian Church, 233 Bic Road in Dothan. The visitation will be held 10-11a.m., prior to the funeral.

His uncle said he is blown away by the family oriented atmosphere and touching tribute organized by students for Christopher.

He was part of Jaguar Productions, Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity, very active in school and city politics. Christopher played an active role in Mayor Sandy Stimpson’s campaign, among others.

His fraternity and students are raising money for final expenses.
