Parents got some answers Thursday night, March 13 about the move of Mobile County Magnet School for Math and Science.
The school board decided to move the magnet school to Eichold-Mertz Elementary School beginning this fall.
They say the move is necessary because the magnet school is in a building that belongs to another school system.
Current students can apply to attend the magnet school or be rezoned to nearby schools and that was on a lot of parent’s minds tonight.
“Just coming out this far might be too much of an inconvenience for me. Me just having a newborn and working, it’s just a lot,” one parent said.
Mobile County Public Schools Superintendent Martha Peek said most parents wanted clarification about the zones and wanted to know what their options were.
“Just the logistics of what zone has my child been scheduled for what school and how are we going to get there,” she said.
