MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Wednesday, March 12 marks an important milestone for the Airbus Assembly Plant being built in Mobile.
Officials are celebrating what’s called a “topping out” ceremony.
Topping out is a traditional event in the construction process, somewhere between ground-breaking and ribbon-cutting, which occurs when the highest structural element of a building is placed into position.
A tree is raised to symbolize growth and potential.
The assembly line hanger now has a roof and walls.
The ceremony will start at 9 o’clock.
FOX10 News Reporter Steve Alexander is covering the event and will have a report on FOX10 News at 4 p.m.
