Mobile-native and former Alabama quarterback, AJ McCarron will be this year’s grand marshal at the ARCA Mobile 200. The race is set for March 22nd at Mobile International Speedway, the flags will drop at 2p.m.
This will not be McCarron’s first rodeo, however – the signal caller has done the job the past two years at the ARCA Mobile 200, but because of NCAA regulations was not allowed to carry the title of ‘grand marshal’.
ARCA racer and friend of McCarron’s, Thomas “Moose” Praytor, will wear a specially made helmet for the race – which is similar to McCarron’s football helmet – crimson and white, with the number ‘10’ printed on it.
Race promoter, Tommy Praytor, is excited to have McCarron at the speedway.
“We’re excited that Mobile’s AJ McCarron is coming back home to be grand marshal of the race – he’s been here the first two years and said ‘gentleman start your engine’ but we couldn’t tell anybody because of the NCAA regulations. Well not he’s not playing under the NCAA rules and we’re happy to say he’s going to be with us on race day,” said Praytor.
